About bilateral cooperation

As part of the EEA and Norway Grants operates a separate Bilateral Fund with allocation of EUR 2,06 million for Croatia in the period 2014 – 2021.

Bilateral fund is intended to finance project activities that strengthen bilateral relations of the beneficiary country with donor countries – Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein. One of the conditions of financing is the partnership at the level of the beneficiary country and partner who comes from one of the three donor countries.

In this way, the expansion of cooperation between Croatian institutions and companies with counterparts from Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein is being encouraged. Within the framework of the Bilateral Fund project activities designed to connect, exchange and share experiences, knowledge, technologies and best practices between beneficiary countries and donor countries, as well as international organizations in the area of ​​application of the programme are being financed.

Members of the Joint Committee on Bilateral Funds (the JCBF) jointly make final decision on the bilateral activities which will be financed under the Fund. The JCBF consists of five members: representatives of the Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds – National Focal Point (act as a Secretariat of the JCBF),the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs Of the Republic of Croatia and representatives of donor countries (Embassy of the Kingdom of Norway in the Republic of Croatia, Embassy of Iceland in Berlin, Liechtenstein Mission to the European Union in Brussels). A representative of the Financial Mechanism Office participates as an observer, without the right to vote.
