06 Jul The Funding Decisions within the Call “Strengthening skills in primary schools and development of regional science centres for STEM education in primary schools”, Component B: „Establishment of Regional Science Centres for STEM education in primary schools“ adopted
The Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds, the Programme Operator of the “Local Development and Poverty Reduction Programme”, following the award procedure within the Call for Proposals “Strengthening skills in primary schools and development of regional science centres for STEM education in primary schools ”, Component B: „Establishment of Regional Science Centres for STEM education in primary schools“ on June 1st and 27th 2022 has adopted two Funding Decisions of total value HRK 79.386.809,85 supported by the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area (EEA).
This Decisions provide financing for the implementation of four projects supporting strengthening the capacity of primary school education institutions in the Republic of Croatia in STEM teaching by establishing regional scientific centres for primary school education in the STEM field. It is an informal form of cooperation between elementary schools, local and regional self-government units, and other interested stakeholders who will establish their own spaces within schools and conduct specialized activities for students at the local or regional level. Such centres will primarily have the role of promoting a new approach to science, technology, and entrepreneurship in a modern and innovative way. The special emphasis of the work of such centres will be on gifted students, on timely identification of their talent and on targeted and adapted work with them, so that they can fulfil their potential and ultimately achieve excellence at all levels of education.
