On May 25 and 26, 2022, the Croatian Academic and Research Network – CARNET<\/strong> presented the project ” Enhanced Tools for Creating Equal Opportunities in Education for Pupils with Disabilities ” \u2013 ATTEND<\/strong> in Opatija.<\/p>\n

The press conference was attended by the Head of the Sector for EU Programmes and International Financial Mechanisms at the Ministry of Regional Development and European Union Funds Natalija La\u0161tro<\/strong>, CARNET Director Hrvoje Puljiz<\/strong>, Project Manager Renata \u0160imunko<\/strong> and other dignitaries.<\/p>\n

“The ATTEND project is part of the \u201cLocal Development and Poverty Reduction\u201d Programme, within which 32,7 million EUR is available to Croatia, of which 27,8 million EUR is financed from the Financial Mechanisms of the European Economic Area and the Norwegian Financial Mechanism. The common goal of our donors and the Government of the Republic of Croatia is to strengthen economic and social cohesion. Through these financial mechanisms, we are strengthening our bilateral relations with partners from donor countries, exchanging experiences and good practices. Therefore, bilateral cooperation is an important component of the ATTEND project by which we together create the preconditions for further progress of children with disabilities\u201e said the Head of the Sector Natalija La\u0161tro.<\/p>\n

The goal of the ATTEND project is to equip 34 Centres for Training and Education in the Republic of Croatia with assistive technology in order to create preconditions for children with disabilities for equal educational opportunities and successful inclusion in society. The total value of the project is 3,5 million EUR, of which the largest part (85%) is financed from the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area, and a smaller part (15%) from the state budget.<\/p>\n

CARNET is the project promoter of the ATTEND project, which will be implemented in the next two years in partnership with the Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation Sciences, University of Zagreb (ERF) and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, University of Zagreb (FER), with Icelandic partners – Department of Education and Youth of Reykjavik.<\/p>\n
