On Tuesday, 12 March 2024, the Closing conference of the \u201eVelika Gorica Solar City \u2013 Countdown<\/strong>\u201c project was held by the Project Promoter City of Velika Gorica. The conference was held in the hall of the People’s Open University in Velika Gorica, one of the public institutions on whose roofs solar power plants are installed, and was opened by Minister of regional development and EU funds \u0160ime Erli\u0107 and Mayor of Velika Gorica Kre\u0161imir A\u010dkar.<\/p>\n

Minister Erli\u0107 pointed out that Velika Gorica is a leader in the green transition. \u201eYou are truly an example of success in many areas, especially when it comes to energy use and green transition. You are making extremely good use of the opportunities offered by European funds, and we will continue to support you in the implementation of further projects\u201c, said the minister and emphasized that Velika Gorica has withdrawn more than 100 million euros so far.<\/p>\n

Mayor Kre\u0161imir A\u010dkar praised all those who contributed to the realization of such a complex project, which includes the construction of solar power plants on as many as 22 public buildings. \u201eThe estimated electricity savings is over 50%, which is great financially for our local city budget, and it’s also more environmentally friendly. This will now become the standard and it is certain that we will continue with the process\u201c, said Mayor A\u010dkar.<\/p>\n

The project \u201eVelika Gorica Solar City \u2013 COUNTDOWN\u201c was financed by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area 2014 – 2021, with national co-financing by the Republic of Croatia within the \u201eEnergy and Climate Change<\/strong>\u201c Programme. The total value of the project is EUR 654,128.77, of which 81.48% of the amount, or EUR 533,004.18, refers to the funds of the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area, and 18.52% of the amount, or EUR 121,124.59, is the City of Velika Gorica’s own co-financing.<\/p>\n
