The Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds (MRRFEU) is pleased to announce that its Concept Note for the program Local Development and Poverty Reduction was endorsed by the Financial Mechanism Committee (FMC) on July 3rd 2019 and, thus, will proceed to the Programme Agreement and the grant-making stage.

The development of the programme has taken 6 months and involved thorough work with a range of institutions, including program partners, partner institutions, ministries, regional and local development agencies.

The program’s four main objectives are:

*to improve skills and competences of teachers and other professionals in primary education regarding STEM education, inclusive education and inclusive citizenship;

*to enhance STEM-based skills for teachers and other primary school professionals and pupils through new and updated STEM-equipment and renovations as well by developing a regional science centre;

*to enhance tools for creating equal opportunities in education for pupils with disabilities;

*to enhance strategic planning at national and regional level.

Potential beneficiaries of the Local Development and Poverty Reduction Programme Grant are: units of local and regional self-government, primary schools, public institutions, universities, all types of education and training institutions at all levels of formal or informal elementary school education in partnership with other relevant education stakeholders (municipalities, NGOs, business sector, support institutions, research institutions, etc.)

In the following months, MRRFEU will work on Programme Agreement and consequently on grant-making. Therefore, the first call for proposals is expected during the first half of 2020.
