Annual Meeting of the Financial Mechanisms of the European Economic Area and the Kingdom of Norway for the period 2014-2021 was held in Zagreb

Minister Tramišak met with the Donor representatives from the Kingdom of Norway and Iceland as part of the Annual Meeting on the Implementation of the Financial Mechanisms of the European Economic Area and the Kingdom of Norway for the period 2014-2021

On September 22, as a part of a two-day visit, in Zagreb Annual Meeting within the framework of the implementation of the Financial Mechanisms of the European Economic Area and the Kingdom of Norway for the period 2014-2021 was held. In addition to State Secretary Šime Erlić and the head of the delegation of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jon Erik Strømo, the meeting was attended by H.E. Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway Haakon Blankenborg and representatives of the Norwegian Embassy, ​​Deputy Ambassador of Iceland Ágúst Már Ágústsson and representatives of the Financial Mechanisms Office. The participants of the meeting confirmed excellent bilateral relations and their satisfaction with the progress made in the previous year in connection with the implementation of programs implemented under the Financial Mechanisms in the Republic of Croatia: Local Development and Poverty Reduction, Justice and Home Affairs, Energy and Climate Change, Innovation, Research, Education and Competitiveness, Social Dialogue and Civil Society.

During the first day of the visit, September 21, the donor representatives visited the Energy Institute Hrvoje Požar, where they, together with the Minister Tramišak and representatives of the Institute as a program partner on the Energy and Climate Change program, exchanged views related to energy efficiency and the need for increasing the use of alternative forms of energy in the Republic of Croatia as well as in Europe and the world. Donors were presented with the activities of the project Establishment of the national training center for nearly Zero Energy Buildings (nZEB), with the purpose of raising awareness and establish a national training center for experts related to the adaptation of buildings for Near Zero Energy Building standard by adopting innovative technical solutions.

On the same day, the delegation and representatives of the Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds in the function of the National Focal Point, visited the CARNET project “Enhanced Tools for Creating Equal Opportunities in Education for Pupils with Disabilities” – ATTEND (Assistive Technology In Education), where they were presented with the activities aimed at training professional staff and equipping 34 centers for the upbringing and education of children with developmental disabilities with assistive digital technology with the purpose of creating equal educational opportunities for children with developmental disabilities.

At the Faculty of Science, the project “Investigation of seismically vulnerable areas in Croatia and seismic ground motion assessment (CRONOS)” was visited, which is carried out by the Department of Geophysics. The project objective is to raise the seismic safety of the Republic of Croatia to three the most earthquake-prone areas – Zagreb, Rijeka and Dubrovnik and will contribute to the safety of citizens and help national authorities, public and private institutions and agencies for emergencies and urban planning, reducing seismic vulnerability and preparing for natural disasters.

Both projects are implemented within the framework of the Local Development and Poverty Reduction program, implemented by the Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds.

At the end of the two-day meeting, both parties expressed their contentment with the visit, the presented activities and the achievements so far in the field of implementation of Financial Mechanisms in the Republic of Croatia and expressed their intention desire for continuation of excellent cooperation.
